1) Oily Sludge Management and Treatment:

Industrial Supply Company Under the contract ‘’ Removal & Treatment of Oil Sludge, HQ383EM03’ was completed to the best satisfaction of KJO, see attached certificate from KJO ISC, the project was using centrifuging technology to separate sludge components of solids, liquids and recover oil.  Centrifugation process which result in recovering valuable hydrocarbon products.  This centrifugation system used to treat more than 170,000 cubic meters of oily sludge from tens of pits in Al Khafji recovering up to date more than 394,000 bbl of good quality oil which meets international standards, of saleable oil (BSW < 1%). At that time’s oil prices (the value of the recover oil would be over SAR 120,000,000).

ISC has available needed centrifuges and equipments, ready for projects.

2) Risk Assessment:

ISC implemented stage one Remote Desert Disposal Site Risk assessment study at ABQIQ, The study was awarded to ISC by ARAMCO, Provide Risk-Based Corrective Action for Remote Disposal Site at Abqaiq’’, contract number 6510233233.

Client’s ARAMCO Abqaiq.

3) Biological Treatment

of Dreged Material, HQ 383 EM 03’’, Khafjee Joint Operations Project. ISC completed treatment of 1,065,000 cubic meters of hydrocarbon contaminated dredged sand’’.   The technology used is landfarming.

4) Ground Water Remediation

Industrial Supply Center is working on projects for Saudi ARAMCO, to assist Ground Water quality and perform remediation on a pilot scale level.

ISC - ARAMCO CURRENT ON-GOING PROJECTS

Industrial Supplies Centre (ISC) is currently implementing two projects to conduct a Risk Based Correction Action Assessment (RBCA) and Source Reduction Pilot Program at the Jeddah Refinery, South Jeddah Bulk Plant and Duba bulk plant, as part of the project, the number of the contracts are 6600020294 and 6600020295.

ISC will implement an additional subsurface investigation to define groundwater and soil impacts and determine if these impacts represent a risk to human health and the ecology near the site. SAUDI ARAMCO will conduct a pilot-scale program to determine design parameters for full-scale remediation of the source zone. This Projects have the following objectives:

1. To delineate impacts extent within the shallow groundwater system,

2. Update the Site Conceptual Model,

3. To determine receptors,

4. Using the new data, conduct a RBCA Tier 1, 2 and Tier 3 analysis,

5. Conduct a pilot scale program for the removal of the free product, and

6. Develop remedial system construction documents for a full-scale remediation system.

ISC Equipments

The following is a list of ISC equipment.

1- Centrifuging Equipment – Alpha Laval NX418 Three Phase Decanter Centrifuge. This equipment is      used to separate the solids from one or two liquid phase. This is using centrifugal forces that can be  well beyond 3000 times greater than gravity.

2- High Capacity Strainers - to strain the melted sludge.

3- Centrifuge control panels – operates the centrifuge and feed pumps. Monitors the performance of the centrifuge machine.

Sludge Gathering Equipment

1 – Sludge melting tanks (two melting tank for each centrifuge operating) – These rectangular tanks are normally 12 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, and 2.4 meters tall. They will have steam coils mounted along the long sides of the tanks. The coils will be mounted approximately 250 mm from the sides to allow a large open area down the center of the tank. This opening will allow a small excavator to go inside to scoop out sediments or debris when the tank has to be cleaned. The tanks will have two agitators mounted on the top at each end to keep the oil circulating around the coils.

The tanks will have a mesh barrier at the drain end to catch any large debris from going into the transfer pumps. The mesh barrier will have 15 cm openings and span across the width of the tank near the drain end.

The coils will need to have a steam inlet at the top and a steam outlet on the bottom to penetrate the tank walls. The steam connections will be made outside the tank walls. A steam trap will be mounted at the steam outlet outside the tank to enable the condensate to return to the boiler.

2 – Transfer Pumps - The Gorman-Rupp transfer pumps suction is 50 mm, single stage, and progressive cavity pumps. The pumps should be geared to pump approximately 600 liters per minute.

3 – Transfer Pumps - The Gorman-Rupp transfer pumps suction is 50 mm, single stage, progressive cavity pumps. The pumps should be geared to pump approximately 600 liters per minute.

4 – 60 cubic meter Pre-Process Tanks (two tank for each operating centrifuge)           – The size of these tanks does not have to be exact. We basically need at least 60 cubic meters of pre-process storage for every centrifuge we have operating.

These tanks will need to have steam coils mounted in the bottom. We normally make coils out of 2-inch pipe. Each tank will also have to have an agitator mounted on the roof. Side mounted agitators can be used also. It is best to insulate these tanks, but not critical.

1 – 60 cubic meters recovered oil tanks. Again, the size and shape does not have to be exact. These tanks will be used to hold the recovered oil before it is transported to KJO.

2 – 60 cubic meters extracted water tanks. Same as above, but will be used to store the water extracted from the sludge before it is transported to the disposal.

3 – 15 cubic meters diesel storage tanks. These tanks will be used for storing diesel fuel for the boilers and electric generators.

Pipe, valves, fittings, steam traps and hoses – We normally use three-inch pipe for the majority of the plumbing. We normally use 2-inch pipe for all steam lines. We only use ball or gate valves. Butterfly valves are not useable because of plugging. For estimation purposes, there will be approximately 30 ball valves needed and approximately 16 check valves needed.

4 – Steam Boilers – 200 hp steam generating unit, complete with accessories. Weathered sludge must be melted in order for it to be pumped and processed. It is also used to heat the sludge to reach optimal temperatures where the sludge can be easily separated.

We typically use diesel-fired boilers. These boilers will need to be housed in a building or self contained in its own housing.

1 – 125 Kilowatt electric generators – These units will also need to be self-contained. 460 Volts, 100 amps, three phase, power source for all equipments needed on site.

2 – Compressor unit – 60 cfm to be used on various applications on site.

Other Support equipments

1  – 3 cubic meter water truck – used for delivering water requirements on site.

2 – Diaphragm pump – used as transfer pump or for any other application.
